Geocache Description:

SERIES

This Geocache is part of the Beaver Island Historical Society series. Each cache that is hidden in theis series will END with the letters BIHS.

Beaver Island is a unique location that bounds with history. We are located 32 miles out in the northern part of Lake Michigan. All of these cache locations are historical, or unique to Beaver Island. Some are on private property with permission of the owner. Please follow the parking directions listed in the waypoints. None of the cache are inside of a building. We hope you will enjoy your tour around the Island learning about our history and the beauty of the island.

Signal is not great on the island and before marking a DNF try expanding out and looking for some of the typical hiding locations, maybe even under some fallen leaves. The hint should help. We would love to see attached photos of you at the various locations (of course not of the geocache).

MT PISGAH - BIHS

This large sand dune is approximately 730' high, though as a climb it is almost 1/4 mile hike each way.  This dune will take you to two plateaus.  The view from the first level on a clear day is quite breath taking. You will see two islands in front of you. The larger island is High Island. There used to be a complete community of both Native American's as well as a community of Isralites, a secular commnity on the island.  The smaller island that you see that appears to be cut in half is Trout Island.  This is a private island, and the clearing through the center is a landing strip for the owner to land his plane.

This is a steep and difficult climb.  On a hot day the sand is very hot and shoes are advised. Do not attempt to go down over the back you will have no cell service to call for help.  Take the climb slow and enjoy the view from both levels.

CACHE

This climb might wear you out and hopefully you brought something to drink.  This regular size container will not help hydrate you but will give you a smiley.  The cache will require you to climb all the way to the top.  If you are not up for this cache please pass it by and move on to another find.
