Ilkley West Ramble #18: High House

This is the 18th in a series of 28 caches which will take you on a memorable ramble through some fine, varied West Yorkshire countryside immediately west of Ilkley and south of Addingham. The southern half of the ramble climbs up to and then traverses Addingham Moorside.
See Ilkley West Ramble #1: Intro & Start for maps, background info on the trail, and parking waypoints.

From IWR #17, continue heading south up the narrow footpath, over a lovely old stone stile and on up 'Foxglove Alley' (see Gallery) with good views of the moor and old quarries through a small metal gate to a wooden stile giving access to grassy drystone wall bordered fields.
Continue across the field to the stone stile in the corner, and over this to where the cache, a camo-taped preform tube is hidden.

*** Watch out for the ankle-hungry hole in the grass and avoid the stingers!***
High House, which is skirted as you continue south from the cache, is another Grade II listed building from 1697. See here for the full Historic England listing which as usual has some rich architectural language describing its numerous notable features.
