Geocache Description:

Ammo can loaded with swag! FTF gets $5, STF gets $2 and TTF gets $1! Good luck!

Here lies the begining of the road to the bay which will take you near the beach with the best land views of the SS Selma, the experimental concrete ship which was intentionally scuttled in 1922 after she hit a jetty in Mexico and was unable to be repaired here in Galveston. This road is unmaintained and you can see where people have gotten stuck so I wouldn't drive down it! Seeking treasure mates? There is speculation as to where Jean Lafitte buried his treasure when he left. I have always thought it to be here, on Pelican Island, and not on Galveston itself! I have also always thought that his home called Maison Rouge was further down island and not by the harbor. Look to Bolivar penninsula (GC8WRZB) if you seek the real Lafitte's treasure but enjoy this sample of his booty! I enjoyed this little trek which is a little over 2 1/2 miles round trip. I may extend it further in the future or if anyone else wants to place, feel free! Bring insect repellent and Have fun!
