Geocache Description:


The geocache is located along the old railroad bed in Jonesville which was made into a walking path and named, Jerry Russell Trail.  It is a lovely paved walking trail. that is 1.4 miles long.

Poison ivy is in different places and mosquito spray per its season is recommended.

Hope you enjoy your caching experience.  Please respect the area and enjoy what Jonesville offers.  There is close by parking available for the trail.

This cache is dedicated to the memory of Capt Ralph Monroe (Monty) Powers Jr.  Capt Monty Powers, a decendant of the Jones family,  was a World War II Veteran.  He was stationed in Italy and was a pilot.  He and fellow pilots, after Mussolini was dead, helped push the Germans north where the Germans would eventually be defeated.  Cpt Monty would return home and later be a business owner of a business in Jonesville, which he owned and operated for 45 years.  The business which started in 1890 by his family.  He knew the history of Jonesville and many a place became the recipient of an American flag which he donated.   He was born in 1923 and passed away in 2018 at the age of 94.
