This cache is along the former Manchester & Keene Railroad, recently opened to public recreational use by the Harris Center. The railroad opened in 1878 for rail service between Keene and Nashua. It operated for over 50 years until the flood of 1936 damaged it beyond repair.
This cache is placed near a stone marker which showed the mileage to Nashua on one side, and to Keene on the other. It is a small cylinder, and you should be able to find it in winter. The walk to the cache is easy, about 0.5 miles each way.
To get to the trailhead from Hancock village center, take Old Dublin Road opposite the post office. Go for 0.9 miles, and left into a driveway marked #92, next to a huge boulder. You will find parking for several cars and an information board with maps.
