DESCRIPTION
Un pino, dos Pino
We are located in the Natural Park of Penyagolosa, located between the municipalities of Vistabella del Maestrat, Xodos and Villahermosa del Río. In its 1,094.45 hectares of surface is the mountain that gives it its name, the Penyagolosa, belongs to the Iberian System, it is the highest peak in the province of Castellón with 1,814 m of altitude.
The great biodiversity prevailing in the Penyagolosa massif is caused by the different calcareous and siliceous substrates and by the combination of continental and Mediterranean climates.
The vegetation that develops in the natural park varies depending on the altitude and geology. In the lower elevations the black pine (Pinus nigra) grows, in the sunny and with siliceous substrate we find the rodeno pine (Pinus pinaster) and in the shady and highlands the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) predominates. It is also frequent to observe formations of juniper juniper (Juniperus thurifera). It should be noted the presence of Valencian oak (Quercus faginea), yew (Taxus baccata) and very interesting formations of melojo (Quercus pyrenaica).
Among the fauna associated with the rich ecosystem of the Penyagolosa, the ornithofauna of large diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey, such as the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), the Bonelli's eagle (Hieraetus fasciatus) and the eagle owl (Bubo bubo) stand out. The presence of the crossbill (Loxia curvirostra), the great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) and the red-billed chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) are also relevant. Among mammals, the presence of the wildcat (Felis silvestris), the wild goat (Capra pyrenaica), genet (Genetta genetta), the badger (Meles meles) and the roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) is important. Special mention deserves the largest Valencian population of the troglodyte bat (Miniopterus schreibersii). The rock lizard (Podarcis muralis) maintains in the Penyagolosa one of the most important populations of the Valencian territory. Among the invertebrate fauna, butterflies stand out, the Elizabethan (Graellsia isabellae) and Apollo (Parnassius apollo).
The origin of the toponym Penyagolosa is lost in time, but it seems that it comes from the evolution of the term pinna (mountain) and lucosa (wooded), according to some documents such as the one relating to the Donation of Culla to the Order of the Temple in 1213 Although it is also probable that it comes from the derivations of Peña golosa or Peña colosal.
ABOUT THE CACHE
FOCUS ON THE D/T INDICES AND COME TO SEARCH ACCORDING TO YOUR POSSIBILITIES AND PHYSICAL FORM . It would be convenient to come accompanied or inform a close person where you are going to be.
The cache is an airtight 700ml container, it is camouflaged and placed in a beautiful specimen of twin pine, to leave your signature in the guest book you must go up where little Blume indicates, TAKE ALL THE NECESSARY SAFETY MEASURES TO AVOID DAMAGE BASS.
The main reason for choosing this location is the curiosity caused by the large population of double or twin pines, a possible theory of the large number of these peculiar trees argued by experts in forestry projects is due to the strong wind in the area, this causes the seeds to fall together and germinate, being together helps them overcome the extreme weather conditions of the park and they grow so that we can enjoy these curious specimens.
We hope you enjoy the adventure located in this wonderful environment. Remember that we are in a natural environment of incalculable environmental value. The Penyagolosa Natural Park represents a very valuable enclave, both from the botanical point of view, as well as from the fauna. With an area of 1,094.45 hectares protected by law for more than 14 years.
The cache does not contain a typewriter, so you must take it to register. In order not to endanger the hiding place, remember to take the time necessary both to pick it up and to leave it. Please leave everything as it was and do not upload any photos or records that reveal the type of camouflage used. Any record that reveals the type of camouflage or the location of the hiding place will be removed without notice. Thanks in advance for your visits.
Thanks to friends Penya69 and Franky penya 69 for the location and placement of this T5, without you it would not have been possible, also special mention and super thanks to our favorite natural spaces technician, the great Sonia M.V., for contributing the possible theory of the great concentration of double / twin pines in these parts.
