Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Kinzua Cachers Tribute Trail (KCTT).  The original KCTT was a series of caches placed in conjunction with the Kinzua Cachers annual fall celebration of milestones at Chapman State Park, to honor our friends that have found at least 1000 caches and have attended the most recent event.  The KCTT has been a favorite activity of many geocachers, particularly those that might be camping at Chapman State Park or Hearts Content Scenic Area Campground.

Recently, we decided it was time to take to the trail again to maintain our existing caches, and we decided that if we had to take a couple of backpacks full of cache containers to the trail, we might as well use some of them along the way to put out some more caches to extend the trail a bit further to provide more opportunities for our fellow cachers.  Since this extension of the trail is not being built around another event due to the COVID-19 Pandemic going on, the caches will be randomly named in honor of fellow cachers that have either attended our past events or that may have served as an inspiration of sorts to us somewhere along the line.  If your geo-name doesn’t show up as a title of a cache On the Kinzua Cacher Tribute Trail at this time, we mean no disrespect. It probably means we just haven’t got to it yet.  There will be more coming in the future!

The trail can be walked or biked and although the caches themselves are not placed within Chapman State Park, the trail heads can be accessed from Chapman State Park or from Hearts Content Road, so take your pick.  The caches are placed in state gamelands, so please don't forget to wear blaze orange clothing for your caching safety during hunting season.  Also for safety sake, please be vigilant about watching where you walk or might be reaching under with your hands to grab the cache, as we did see a Black Phase Timber Rattlesnake along this trail when we did our maintenance run and placed some of these caches!  Although sightings might be rare, this is definitely rattlesnake territory!

Our best recommendation if you want to do the whole trail is to park or have someone drop you and your bikes (if you are biking) at the top of the trail at the intersection with Hearts Content Road at Dunham siding and ride downhill to Chapman State Park!  Having a partner with a second vehicle parked at the bottom of the trail to take you back to the start is also a good idea if you parked at the top and walked down.  No matter where you start, the walk or bike ride is very nice.  Cache containers are small pint sized to quart sized containers capable of holding small trade goods or travel bugs, Bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log.   Have fun and don't forget to wish our honored guests continued success in your logs.
