Geocache Description:

Combewood is an example of last nineteenth century Queen Anne style architecture, and is reputed to be the work of noted architect John Sulman.  The house Is distinguished by its slate roof, sweeping side verandahs and balconies on three sides, and layered hipped and half-hipped roofs.  The building is orientated to the north towards the formal garden, while the carriage drive approaches the west side of the house.

Combewood retains a significant landscape setting, comprising the original carriage drive and magnificent plantings including Himalayan cedars, Chinese elms, white cedars, peppercorns, kurrajongs, jacarandas, bunyah trees and olives. While access is now from Coreen Avenue, the original carriage drive extended west to Castlereagh Road.
