In the early 1900's there were coal mines operating in the Kurri Kurri, Richmond Main, Pelaw Main and Stanford Merthyr areas.
Many of the local miners would gather after work each evening at places where they would discuss and debate the affairs of their colliery, their community, their country and the world.
The places they gathered at were known as "The Miner's Logs".
In Pelaw Main there were four logs: McFails Pepercorn Tree Log, situated in Neath Street; Church of England Corner Log, situated in Abermain Street; Blishen's Corner Log in Stanford Street; Lamp Cabin Log situated at Pelaw Colliery.
These logs were transported to the four areas by bullock wagon from Brunkerville.
The naming of the "Log of Knowledge Park" was in keeping with the history of the "Miner's Logs" in the Pelaw Main area.
