Geocache Description:


      "Zolushka" / "Emil Racoviță" Cave is  the 26th longest cave in the world. It is also recognized as the third longest gypsum cave in the world.

     The cave is relatively young, forming at the end of the Pleistocene period. According to the morphological and morphometric characteristics, 15 regions of the cave were identified.

     In the caves were established the presence of Neogene and Quaternary deposits, but also of the Upper Badenian, which consist of a layer of high quality gypsum with a thickness of 20-25 m. Above the gypsum are 12 levels of clays of different colors and compositions. , depending on the fauna of foraminifera, bryozoans, ostracodes and mollusks that was the basis. The stratigraphic section ends with a layer of Pleistocene alluvium, in which skeletal remains of mammoth, bison and horse were discovered.
