Geocache Description:

The cache is a small plastic-glass container. You will need a pen/pencil.

In Cyclades, along with other places from around the world, from the early years it was acustomed to gather the water from the rain in order to use it for domestic use or for gardening.
These rain waters were collected in handmade tanks that were public or private. The water could be used for driking, household chores, watering the crops or for the needs of the animals.
In Dryos there are at least three cisterns. Two of them are in the area of the cache and the third is near the sea- And you can visit it as well- connected with the one in front of you through a water pipe called "naos",(Greek word for temple).
The cistern that we placed the cache starts from the first one that is a natural spring and was used to supply water to the third cistern that was made into power for the seaside factory (now a hotel) that made grains.
Although the use of the cisterns has seen a demise in the last years because of the connection of the areas to a central water supply system, it is an ancient technique that starts to feel useful again since the needs for water supplies are bigger and bigger but the rain is less and less due to the climage change and environmental destraction. Cisterns, can prove to be an ally for the water sortages in Paros and other places.
