This old timer overlooks the beautiful forest from a spot that is a short distance from a fairly smooth forest road. Due to possible changes in road conditions from weather, a high clearance vehicle is recomended. Heavy rain or snow could damage this otherwise fairly smooth dirt road. This old Sentry can be found on a forest road loop off the Maverick trail.. The southern entrance to the loop starts off the Maverick trial about 2 tenths mile from Shy Hi road. Turn left and wind up the mountain about 2 miles then right about 1 mile to Old Sentry. Continue on this road and intersect the Maverick trail. The challenge is staying on the correct road as there are several decoy turns that can confuse.
