Buckhorn State Park is located on Castle Rock Flowage, a 13, 955 acre flowage of the Wisconsin River. Castle Rock Lake is the fourth largest inland lake in Wisconsin. Buckhorn is known for it's unique hike-in shoreline campsites, beaches, and water activities. This cache is located a short walk down Turtle Trail to a small fishing pond. The pond is stocked for kids by the Friends of Buckhorn State Park. Fishing rods and basic tackle are available at the park office for free checkout if your youngsters want to wet a line. As you make your trek back to the cache area and around the pond, you will observe several bat houses which have been placed to encourage bats to locate here. Bats feed on our plentiful supply of mosquitoes in the summer months. The cache is a bison tube. Please rehide as found. This cache is being placed as part of the WGA 2020 Fall Picnic at Buckhorn State Park.
There is plenty of parking at the trailhead and this is also the parking for the Glacial Lake Trail, Whispering Pines Trail and Timber Trail. A current Wisconsin State Park sticker is required to park a vehicle in any part of the park at any time of year.

Please note that any geocache placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources managed lands requires permission by means of this notification form.
