Plans for an extended Labor Day outing went awry, so we thought we'd take a jaunt around Central Montana, and place a few caches to increase the opportunity for others to gain a few SMILEYs. Having placed a cache in Fort Benton earlier, we decided to take MT Hwy. 80 Toward Geraldine and Stanford. Between these two communities there are TWO very prominent geologic features. This wide spot on the road has a nice pavillion with numerous signs that explain the geology of this area. If you stop here, you can learn about an ancient volocano in the nearby mountains, as well as how the many Glacial lakes were formed. Other signs explain past area industries and impacts of settlers to the area. As you approach this pullout, there are signs that read "Historic Point". The Cache is small, so there is no scribble stick in the cache. These ARE the prairie lands of Montana, so be mindful of the possibility for "Snakes On the Plains" if you visit in the heat of spring / summer.
Please replace this cache as found.
