While out exploring Joinertown Road and looking for new cache locations, I was inspired to pull off the road here and attempt to summit what was the largest hill I'd come to for the day. The slope from the road is nearly cliff-like; the cache is only 20 or 30 feet from the road, but there is easily 30 feet of elevation change over that distance, packed into an almost unclimbable slope. Luckily, the obvious route of parking at the north edge of the hill and hiking up the long way was very possible, and the view from the top was...well, not terribly amazing, but still cool! I knew when I arrived that I needed to leave a cache behind--and as luck would have it, part of the hilltop is within the highway right-of-way! Now, you're stuck making the same climb I did, so you'd might as well make the most of it.
As stated before, you will need to go up. Parking is relatively easy near the northwest edge of the hill, and the task isn't terribly difficult in terms of terrain--it's just a bit long. Container is a large black plastic canister, 5" diameter, secured in place with paracord. Cache contains a logbook, pen, and some tradables. The hiding spot is plenty far from the steep side of the hill as to be safe for hunting, but please be careful as you hunt to NOT fall down the hill into the road below. It shouldn't be a hard result to avoid, but "actin' a fool" will get you there anyway. Also keep an eye on any young cachers with you! Brush may get a bit tighter during the growing season, but the path up shouldn't get too overgrown--it's a powerline clearing, after all. Thanks for visiting!
