Camarillo Rock-Apillar Geocache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CoolBeans04: Hey team, I’ve realized I lack the time and energy to continue this cache and will sadly be removing it. However, a remnant of the cache will be left at the location as a little piece of history. Thanks for all the likes and finds, hope everyone enjoyed the cache while it was active :) Alright, happy cool bean caching everyone!

Geocache Description:

I recommend reading the entire description before heading out to find this cache.

This geocache highlights the Camarillo Rock Caterpillar (a caterpillar made out of painted rocks from the community). The geocache requires you to recognize the special rock. There is a small space for swag. I'd recommend bringing gloves as the cache can get dirty/wet. When you put the cache back, please don't screw the cap on too tight because it will be very hard for the next person to open. Admire the caterpillar and add to it with your own painted rock if you want. BYOP. High muggle traffic. FTF prize is $1 and a pack of cool beans (jelly beans). Hope you enjoy. Happy Cool Bean Caching!

The Geo-Cacher's-Pillar Club Member List:

  1. CoolBeans04 - Cache owner [cool face emoji]. - "Happy Cool Bean Caching!"
  2. No one else because I just added this!
  3. To be part of the club and get your message added, read the below!

UPDATE:

The geocache has been moved from its original location. The current coordinates should reflect its new location. The cache container was changed in an attempt to solve the water-logging problem (pun not intended). Because of this, the cache is not as cool as it used to be. I've decided to make it cool in a new way that will also help revive the caterpillar which is slowly disappearing. I have created the Geo-Cacher's-Pillar Club! (just made this up; see the list of club members above). Currently, the club is just a list of names but this may change in the future. To be part of this super cool and exclusive club, you must:

  1. Paint a cool rock to add to the actual IRL rock caterpillar. Larger and heavier rocks are preferred because small rocks have a tendency to get lost due to the wind, rain, etc. Large rocks also provide a larger painting canvas to work with.
  2. Find the cache.
  3. Log the log sheet.
  4. Add your rock to the IRL rock caterpillar, preferably near the beginning of the caterpillar/trailhead or near the geocache.
  5. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Send me a photo* of your rock as part of the caterpillar. Without this step, you cannot be added to the Geo-Cacher's-Pillar Club.
  6. Optional: If you have any photos of the rock painting process, the finding process, etc., and would like me to add them to the cache page, send those as well with a note saying something along the lines of "please add these photos to the geocache page." (These photos will be public so only send additional photos if you are ok with this.) You can also send me a short message to add next to your name on the Geo-Cacher's-Pillar Club member list. Ex: Mine is "Happy Cool Bean Caching!" see above.

*To send me a photo, please send it through the Geocaching Message Center. Here's a link on how to: 1) On Geocaching.com or 2) On the Geocaching® app.

Note: These steps are only needed if you want to join the Geo-Cacher's-Pillar Club. Even if you do not do these steps, please still log the cache as you normally would IRL and on the app/website. Additionally, if you have already found the cache and would like to join the club, you still can; just follow the steps (also feel free to find the cache in its new location and log the fresh log).

Here's a cookie for reading through the very long description!

Owner's note: If you think the cache is cool, consider giving it a favorite point if you can! It makes my day any time someone does :) Please continue to share your amazing stories and adventures! I am very excited about the Geo-Cacher's-Pillar Club and hope that it restores the cache to its former glory. Feel free to message me if you have any questions/comments/concerns about the cache and again, Happy Cool Bean Caching!
