Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates are near the Weir boat ramp in Dave Chapman Park. The cache is not at the listed coordinates but it is not far away,

Solve the jigsaw puzzle Boat ramp in north Queensland and the coordinates will be revealed. This cache is a plastic screw top. At the time of placing it contained a log, pencil, various clips shackes and carabiners, plus a weighty unactived pirate trackable (ARRGGHH be FTF). Note the cache name and code on the front of the logbook relate to a different cache, they were swapped but the book was too big.

The following text relates to other caches in this area.

Other caches have been placed on this section of river about 1100 m up and down-stream, from the access at the boat ramp. As this river floods they are all screwtop containers wired to trees. The end of the wires may be a bit bitey. They have have mostly been placed between the bank and the trees, and on vertical branches or trunks. Some of these spots are narrow or pass under branches, they were placed in a kayak and would be difficult to access in a power boat. The containers unscrew so you should not need to undo the tethers. Try not to drop the container, they sink quickly! Bring a pen.

When on the water, be on the lookout for submerged rocks and logs.surprise

The council will close the boat ramp if there is high flow in the river, more likely in the wet season months of February or March. The boat ramp may not re-open until the flow subsides AND recreational areas (particularly skiing) are re-surveyed for obstacles. They usually have to replace some markers as well. The signs near listed coordinates of the cache 'We'ir this way' (back in town) should indicate the status of the 'water park'.

At the listed coordinates there are signs indicating the uses and aquatic recreation zones of the upper Burdekin River. There are speed and access limits on ski and power boats on this section of the river. The sign indicates the southern extent of boating activites allowed above the Weir.

The current flows north to south, but usually the wind has more impact on paddle craft.
