This multistage cache is a pleasant route through Cheltenham's Montpellier area (and a bit of the Suffolks) with a few historic facts along the way. The route is wheelchair accessible. Those with children should note there is one busy road crossing without traffic lights.
Magic
Start at the posted coordinates on Montpellier Street at the house of John Nevil Maskelyne, a magician and inventor of the mundane (pay toilet) and magical (levitation). He started his career here before being drawn to cities such as Liverpool and London.
Find A = final digit of Maskelyne's year of birth

Head north along Montpellier Street and through the alleyway on the right to Montpellier Walk - admire the caryatids on the way. Then cross the main road into Montpellier Gardens. Various festivals are held here but the locations for this cache are generally kept publicly accessible at all time.
Weather
Head to the café to find out about a weather record. Cheltenham held the highest temperature record in the UK from 1990 until 2003.
Find B = Hour of the time of the record
Flight
Next head to the bandstand where you can read about a first in flight by John Hampton.
Find C = First digit of the number of minutes this event lasted

Exploration
Next head out of the park in the south-east corner and cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. Your next waypoint is the birthplace of Edward Wilson, a naturalist and part of Scott's ill-fated expedition to the Antarctic.
Find D = Final digit of the year of birth of Wilson

Calculate the coordinates as: N 51° 53.(BxD) C D' W 2° 4.A B (A-C)'. Each calculation in brackets gives a digit of the solution.
Finally head south and then west to find the cache.
