Geocache Description:

The term “dinosaur” is derived from two Greek words - deinos meaning “terrible” and saurus which means “lizard” - and was first used by English Biologist Sir Richard Owen in 1846. Variations for different species names come from a distinctive characteristic or where a fossil was first found.

Spinosaurus was among the largest of all known carnivorous (meat eating) dinosaurs from the early to mid-Cretaceous. Among its many notable features are massive neural spines on its back. The exact purpose of these spines is still a matter of debate, though most likely used for thermoregulation and display rather than defence.

For a long time, it was believed Spinosaurus fed on fish due to its elongated jaws, raised nostrils and conical teeth, however more recent findings suggest it was an opportunistic predator, feeding on anything its size allowed it to hunt.

A simple (mostly) PnG series useful for streak, souvenir or calendar “daze” (days) when fresh smileys in the area seem extinct. BYO pen, no room for swaps. Camo is relevant to each hide and is NOT swag.
