The Salmon River marks the north edge of Lincoln County and flows right through the heart of the Cascade Head UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
In addition to the river and estuary, this rare and diverse ecosystem includes a sandy littoral spit, densely forested uplands, a two-mile basalt headland covered in native coastal prairie and a marine reserve stretching west into the waters of the Pacific.
Knight’s Park is a popular boat launch for fishing expeditions as well as the place to catch the ferry for visits to Camp Westwind, located in the south side of the river.
