This is the Wisconsin Geocaching Association's Spring 2022 Quarterly Cache Spotlight!
This cache is made from technology that was first developed in 1889, but this model is much newer. It used to be seen commonly at every corner store, hospital waiting room, and along dark, lonely stretches of road. The peak number in use in the US was somewhere around 2.5 million during the year 1995, but today functional ones are becoming a rare sight.
There are two simple steps to opening the cache - you’ll have to figure out how to:
- Decipher and use the code G-AM-EN with the on-site decryption key
- Use the tool provided on site to access the cache
The container has a special feature that is visible for a few hours around dusk and we hope you get a chance to see it. However, it is just as easily solved during daylight hours.
When you’re done logging the cache, please remember to put everything back so it is ready for the next finder.
This cache container was created as a collaborative effort including the academic program areas of Welding, Machine Tool, Renewable Energy, and Civil Engineering Technology, along with the Mobile Manufacturing Lab and Continuing Education Department.
This cache was placed with the permission of Dr. Bobbi Damrow, Vice President of Workforce Development & Community Relations at the college in May 2021.
