The village hall in Maplebeck was over 100 years old when it was found to be structually unsound. It was also still powered by coal and propane gas whilst also being totally un-insulated. A local fundraising team from the 3 villages the hall serves (Maplebeck, Winkburn and Kersall) was set up and over a period of 8 years raised £350,000 to build the new hall you see today. The new hall was offically opened on 12 September 2015 with a ceremony attended by over 100 people.
