This geocache is placed with permission of Fairy Stone State Park. It is one of the six original Virginia State Parks opening June 15, 1936. With 4,741 acres and 168 acre lake adjoining the Philpott Reservoir, Fairy Stone State Park is a great location for swimming, fishing, hiking, picnics, camping and wildlife viewing. Fairy Stone State Park is located at 967 Fairystone Lake Dr., Stuart, Virginia. There is a fee for park entry.
Welcome to Fairy Stone State Park! The iconic VSP sign that lets you know you have finally arrived at a destination with seemingly endless opportunities for so many different activities you can do. Enjoy the trails, hike to a waterfall (yes, there is one here), enjoy time camping or stay in one of the cabins for a few nights. It truly is a magical place....and, if you keep your eyes open and listen carefully, you might see one of the little fairies that call this place home.
You will be looking for a camoed bison tube and you only need to step into the wooded area just a few feet. PLEASE replace carefully so the log will remain dry for the person finding it after you. So, grab your photo of the Fairy Stone State Park sign and make a find. You will need to bring your own pen as this is a nano.
