From the 1880’s-1930’s, the Chinese merchant class developed, business expanded north along Young Road, and Chinatown North emerged. A devastating fire in 1921 caused many to leave. To this day, no landmarks or historic structures pay tribute to the previous existence of, and substantial contributions made by our Chinese residents. Excerpt from Gold Mountain Dream!
