Join staff at Ledges State Park for a Fall Cache In Trash Out (CITO) by volunteering for a fun morning of harvesting prairie seeds, clean-up, and geocaching!
Meet at the posted coordinates (Oak Woods Shelter) in Ledges State Park at or before 10:00am. From 10:00am-12:00pm volunteers will work on projects such as prairie seed harvest, litter clean-up, and whatever else the park needs. From 12:00-12:30pm, there will be a brief wrap up at the Oak Woods Shelter.
All ages are welcome, however the Iowa DNR does require each volunteer to sign a liability waiver before participating in the event. Those waivers will be available at the event or you can request one in advance by emailing Ledges@dnr.iowa.gov. Please dress appropriately for the forecasted weather conditions. In the instance of severe weather, please call the Ledges park office at (515) 432-1852 for cancellation information.
Please post the number of people attending in your “will attend” log so there’s enough supplies gathered for everyone. Be sure to grab one or more of the many caches in Ledges before heading home as well!
Due to COVID-19, Geocachers may simply tell the event host their caching name and have it added to the official CITO log for them. At the DNR's request, please wear a mask and social distance. Everyone be safe so we can all have fun.
This geocaching event has been approved by Andy Bartlett at the DNR Iowa Ledges Office.
