In mid-summer 2020 someone tossed a cigarette down along this trail and started damaging the vegetation here. Fortunately, the smoke was quickly noticed and the fire was not allowed to spread far. You can still see evidence of how a small fire is surrounded by a man-made firebreak. If it hadn't been for the wide road almost to this site, there would have been much more damage to this Wildlife Area along Little Butte Creek. You're looking for a snuff can (with only a log sheet) under some natural cammo. You'll need to walk in from the gate on Agate Road or have a Denman Wildlife Permit to go thru the gate, in which case the find won't require more than 20 minutes for the off-road round trip. Immediately adjacent to the cache location you'll see evidence of an old homestead in this clearing long ago. Further footings are seen on the opposite side of today's trail as you return to the access road.
