Este cache esta ubicado en la Plaza de Recreo de Arecibo. La cual fue dedicada a Luis Muñoz Rivera. Al momento de este cache haber sido colocado, la plaza cuenta con una pequeña cafetería y a sus alrededores una gran gama de restaurantes, ¡sin olvidar la heladería!
Pulmón de San Felipe de Arecibo
Arecibo fue una de las primeras localidades que los españoles fundaron e impulsaron en la isla junto con otras de gran importancia como San Germán, San Juan o Coamo. Los datos y registros hablan de 1515 como fecha casi segura de su fundación, por lo que de ser cierta, la convertiría en una de las ciudades más antiguas de Puerto Rico y de la mismísima América.
La plaza que ocupa su centro, es por tanto su corazón y su núcleo, y por ello ha sufrido quizá mas vicisitudes que cualquier otra parte de la ciudad. Ya en 1890 un incendio destruyó gran parte del espacio y en 1899 un huracán volvió de nuevo a sembrar la desolación en la ciudad.
Mucha de la importancia de la plaza se centra en el hecho de que era y es lugar de reunión de un pueblo que tuvo un gran papel en los días de la Independencia, de la que fueron grandes defensores y de lo que siempre se han mostrado muy orgullosos; como orgullosos de ser la " Villa del Capitan Correa", legendario héroe en la defensa de Puerto Rico contra la invasión inglesa de 1702. Todo un ejemplo de valentía...
La antigua plaza mayor, por tanto, es uno de los lugares de más historia de la ciudad y sitio de los edificios de más solera, como la Catedral de San Felipe Apostol, considerada una de las mejores de la isla, que mezcla en su fachada el neoclásico, la herencia española y los colores pastel caribeños.
Grandes laureles de indias, fuentes, un gran quiosco y sobre todo espacio de vida y descanso, convierten la Plaza de Luis Muñoz Rivera en el pulmón histórico y humano del Diamante del Norte.

This cache is located in the Arecibo Townsquare which is dedicated to Luis Muñoz Rivera. At the time of this cache been placed, the townsquare has a small coffee shop and in its surroundings there is a wide range of restaurants, without forgetting the ice cream parlor!

Arecibo was one of the first towns that the Spaniards founded and promoted on the island along with others of great importance such as San Germán, San Juan and Coamo. The data and records speak of 1515 as the almost certain date of its foundation, so if true, it would make it one of the oldest cities in Puerto Rico and in Americas itself.
The townsquare that occupies its center, is therefore its heart and its nucleus, and for this reason it has perhaps suffered more vicissitudes than any other part of the city. Already in 1890 a fire destroyed much of the space and in 1899 a hurricane returned to sow desolation in the city.
Much of the importance of the townsquare is centered on the fact that it was and is the meeting place of people that played a great role in the days of Independence, of which they were great defenders and of what they have always been very proud; as proud to be the "Villa del Capitan Correa", legendary hero in the defense of Puerto Rico against the English invasion of 1702. The old townsquare, therefore, is one of the most historic places in the city and the site of the most traditional buildings, such as the Cathedral of San Felipe Apostol, considered one of the best on the island, which blends in its façade the neoclassical, the Spanish heritage and the pastel Caribbean colors.
Large Indian laurels, fountains, a large kiosk and above all a space for life and rest, make the Luis Muñoz Rivera townsquare, the historical and human lung of the Diamante del Norte.
I hid this cache in commemoration of the first cache I found and that is currently no longer there.
