Gadget Cache: American Enlightenment Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bierman Boys: This is why we can't have nice things! Someone didn't want to be enlightened! Most likely someone fishing nearby took it/tossed it. Either way, it's gone! Looks like there may have been 1 TB in it as well that may have gone missing.

Geocache Description:

I have always had a love for history and this Gadget Cache will hopefully "enlighten" some fellow geocachers.

The American Enlightenment (which was highly influenced by the European Enlightenment) was a period of American history ranging from the 18th to the 19th centuries that would lead to the American Revolution and eventually the creation of the United States of America. The Enlightenment was known for its emphasis on rational thinking and not just thinking with emotions. In order to access this cache, you too will need to be a rational thinker in order to gain the knowledge needed to open the lock and claim a find!

Famous contributors to the American Enlightenment included Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine.

Thomas Jefferson was an American statesman, diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher, and Founding Father who served as second Vice President and third President of the United States. Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence.

Benjamin Franklin was an American polymath and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Franklin was a leading writer, politician, Freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, humorist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat.

Thomas Paine was an American political activist, philosopher, political theorist, and revolutionary. He wrote "Common Sense" and "The American Crisis" and helped inspire the patriots to declare independence from Great Britain.

These three men have had their names written in the history books, now it is your turn to write your name in the logbook! Good luck!
