"Coming Home" is Saskatoon's largest piece of art consisting of seven parts, the tallest of which is 12m high. Valued at $800 000, it also has the distinction of being the most expensive piece of art ever donated to the City of Saskatoon. It was donated by Dream Developments, the developers of Brighton neighbourhood and the lead artist in its design is Landon Arnholt, a native of Saskatoon.
Close up, it appears to be a collection of a number of birdhouses, but if you approach it westbound from Brighton Common, the overall sculpture takes the shape of a singe bird taking flight.
"Coming Home" represents both the past as the Brighton area is located in former wetlands, home to many birds, as well as the present and future neighbourhood which is forming here.
