Mauri-myrsky oli voimakas, Atlantilta lähteneen trooppisen pyörremyrsky Debbyn jäänne, matalapaine, joka kaatoi metsää Pohjois-Suomessa 21.–22. syyskuuta 1982. Metsätuhoja havaittiin laajalla alueella, joka ulottui Oulusta Inariin asti. Wikipedia. Myrsky riehui kätkön alueella. Myrsky kaatoi tilallamme (Oksala, 9 hehtaaria) niin paljon puita, että vanhempamme päättivät rakentaa niistä hirsimökin Ounasjoen rantaa. Puiden lisäksi rakennusaineina ovat liuskekivet, jotka saatiin Särestönvaaran yhteismetsän kivenottamosta. Eli mökki on lähes 100 %:sti Särestövaaran tuote. Mökki ja Ounasjoki ovat osa Särestöniemen luonto- ja kulttuurimaisemaan. Vanhempieni tuhkan olemme sirotelleet jokeen ja mökin seinällä on heidän muistolaatta. Jos vierailet mökillä, kunnioitathan mökillä mahdollisesti olevien asukkaiden yksityisyyttä. Storm Mauri was a powerful retin of Tropical Cyclone Debby from the Atlantic, a low pressure that felled forests in northern Finland between 21 and 22 September. Adopted on 19 September 1982. Forest damage was observed over a large area stretching from Oulu to Inari. Wikipedia. The storm was raging in the cache area. The storm felled so many trees on our farm (Oksala, 9 hectares) that our parents decided to build them into a log cabin on the shores of the Ounasjoki river. In addition to the trees, the construction materials are slates obtained from the Särestönvaara joint forest stone plant. In other words, the cottage is almost 100%of Särestövaara's product. The cottage and the Ounasjoki river are part of the nature and cultural landscape of Särestöniemi. My parents' ashes have been scattered in the river and there's a plaque on the cabin wall..
