Al momento de colocar este cache, el gobierno municipal instalo en donde solía estar la estatua una especie de placa en conmemoración a Sixto Escobar. Además colocaron allí una silla gigante para que los visitantes se tomen fotos en ella. Antes de que removieran la estatua, aquí había un cache escondido por zeq.

Sixto Escobar nació en Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, el 23 de marzo de 1913. A los 17 años se hizo boxeador profesional y realizó su primer combate en San Juan.
Tras una seguidilla de triunfos emigró a Caracas, Venezuela, donde hizo una gran campaña, que le valió disputar la corona pluma de aquel país ante Enrique Chafferdet, quien le infringió su primera derrota por puntos en 10 asaltos.
En 1934 se mudó a Estados Unidos, y de ahí, a Montreal, Canadá, donde en 1935 noqueó en 5 asaltos a Bobby Leitham, en lo que fue considerado un pleito eliminatorio para disputar el título de la Montreal Athletic Comission (MAC), cuyo campeón, Rodolfo Casanova, estaba presente en el ring side.
Veinte días después de vencer a Leitham, Sixto Escobar derrota a Casanova en 9 asaltos y gana el título mundial reconocido por la MAC, el cual luego defendió ante Eugene Huat. Ese mismo año, 1935, derrota por puntos a Pete Sanstol y conquista la versión de la National Boxing Association (NBA) en el categoría gallo, el cual pierde con Lou Salica en agosto de 1935, para luego recuperarlo tres meses después.
Fue su victoria por KOT en 13 asaltos sobre Tony Marino la que le valió el reconocimiento mundial como titular gallo mundial indiscutible en agosto de 1936. Luego noqueó al panameño Baby Quintana en el primer asalto en el Garden de Nueva York.
Pierde el título ante Harry Jeffra en el Polo Ground en septiembre del 37, pero lo recupera cinco meses después en San Juan, Puerto Rico. En 1939 abandonó la corona al no poder hacer el peso de las 118 libras.
Sixto Escobar murió el 17 de noviembre de 1979. Su récord fue e 43-22-3.

At the time of placing this cache, the municipal government installed a kind of plaque in commemoration of Sixto Escobar where the statue used to be. They also placed a giant chair there for visitors to take photos in it. Before the statue was removed, here was a cache hidden by zeq.

Sixto Escobar was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, on March 23, 1913. At age 17 he became a professional boxer and fought his first fight in San Juan.
After a string of triumphs, he emigrated to Caracas, Venezuela, where he made a great campaign, which earned him to contest the featherweight crown of that country against Enrique Chafferdet, who inflicted his first defeat on points in 10 rounds.
In 1934 he moved to the United States, and from there, to Montreal, Canada, where in 1935 he knocked out Bobby Leitham in 5 rounds, in what was considered an eliminatory fight to contest the title of the Montreal Athletic Commission (MAC), whose champion, Rodolfo Casanova, was present in the ring side.
Twenty days after beating Leitham, Sixto Escobar defeats Casanova in 9 rounds and wins the MAC recognized world title, which he then defended against Eugene Huat. That same year, 1935, he defeated Pete Sanstol on points and conquered the version of the National Boxing Association (NBA) in the bantamweight category, which he lost to Lou Salica in August 1935, and then recovered three months later.
It was his 13-round TKO victory over Tony Marino that earned him world recognition as the undisputed world bantamweight starter in August 1936. He then knocked out Panamanian Baby Quintana in the first round at the Garden in New York.
