Fort Defiance Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Lil Otter: Sorry to say that the monument should be very close to the cache.. but then they moved the monument (grins) so I best archive this cache... it was always a roadside historical interest.. hopefully someone can place a cache closer to where they moved the monument.

Fort Defiance was one of the last garrisoned stockade forts constructed in territorial Wisconsin. Located in the booming lead mining region (see my other cache "Merry Christmas Mine Hill") The Fort was built by local settlers in 1832 when developing tensions over Indian land rights erupted in the Black Hawk War.
