While making chicken marsala for dinner, I ran across these fun facts about mushrooms (a bit random, I know!)
Mushrooms, also called toadstools, are a fungus.
They don't require sunlight to make energy.
Containing vitamin B and more potassium than a banana, they are very nutritious.
They are made up of 90% water.
The largest producer of edible mushrooms is China.
Collecting mushrooms to eat from the wild is called mushroom hunting or mushrooming.
Some mushroom varieties are highly poisonous.
Over 30 species of mushrooms glow in the dark due to a chemical reaction called bioluminescence.
I've probably made you hungry. Go outside, do some geocaching, then go home and make some delicious chicken marsala.
*You will want to wear shoes that like mud and water. It can be very wet and boggy!
*Be especially aware of snakes, and enjoy the birds!!!!
*NOTE: I averaged coords 50 times with my GPS; however, there is a lot of tree cover interference. If you are one of those cachers who enjoys complaining about the coords being off (just for the sake of complaining), then you need not look for this one.
