Pompe Park is located on Prince Street and currently has large open space with Tucker Creek and Tucker Creek Trail running though the park. This cache is located somewhat beyond the western boundary of the park beside Morningside Drive and should be easy to find.
We lived just a couple of blocks from GZ for 20 years, and there was no park in those days. There was, however, a barbed wire fence, and the cedar trees, small back then, served as posts. When the cache was being placed, a small piece of that wire was still there.
Our aging cocker spaniel, Old Smiley, somehow escaped one evening and headed off into the dark. Our young son was distraught, of course, so we all jumped into the car to scour the neighborhood with him hanging out the window calling for Smiley and begging her to come back home. She didn't, so we then turned down Morningside toward Prince Street with him still yelling at the top of his lungs. Right near GZ we saw her chasing us, dragging her leash. We always thought she might somehow have gotten tangled in the fence.
Though Old Smiley has been gone for many years and that little boy is grown with children of his own, my occasional trips down Morningside Drive still bring back fond recollections of those special years and the happy ending to our nighttime search. Old Smiley had been found, and all was well with our world once more.
Remember that this is Arkansas, and dangerous critters and plants of all sorts can be present at certain times of the year. So BE CAREFUL!
