Ideology: HYDE PARK, SYDNEY - Ideology Geocaching paid tribute to the late i!4 Metro cache today, describing it as quite simply the most magical cache you could possibly have.
Ideology's special relationship with i!4 Metro was well known. They often referred to it as their favourite cache, and remember fondly its first log where Hounddog famously noted As soon as you appear to do anything out of the ordinary, all eyes are upon you.
Today Ideology Geocaching released a videotaped statement about its cache, which disappeared between 8 and 10 months after it was hidden.
For us i!4: Metro meant everything and we had dreaded this moment along with, we know, countless others. Part of us knew it would disappear aventually, but somehow we never imagined that that time would come. i!4: Metro seemed gloriously unstoppable, said Whatshisname.
Ideology talked about how much they will miss Metro's logs. Above all Metro confounded many cachers and we laughed until we cried. And oh how we shall miss those laughs.
Ideology moved from the personal to the public, saying that Metro's demise would leave a chasm not only within the Ideology but in the Australian geocaching community - a community it had served, they said, with unswerving dignity.
