Geocache Description:

In 1974 a Martian spaceship landed near Huddersfield. On that occasion the Martians took away a number of artefacts including a potato. In their command module they famously laughed at how we peeled them with our metal knives, boiled them for twenty of our minutes then smashed them all to bits. Their commander labelled us a primitive people.

In 2013 they returned and on that occasion the Government were adamant there would be no repeat of such mockery. When the spaceship was sighted, fighter jets were scrambled and when it refused to land at a designated airfield under escort it was shot at by a surface to air missile. The spaceship suffered only minor damage and was able to crash land on Rishworth Moor (GC4A9WD)

This time the volunteers near the Huddersfield Observatory on Crosland Moor spotted the spacecraft on approach to Huddersfield but could not see where it landed. They did notice five radar beams were sent out onto hilltops which contained messages to pinpoint the landing area.

The cache:

There are five locations where you can collect the required information. Some are drive-by, walk by or cycle by, but at least two require a walk, a proper adventure and a pleasant change from blue plaques and manhole cover numbers!

You can find these locations in any order but you might prefer to leave Wholestone Moor until last!!
