Geocache Description:

Silent City Bonus Cache - the cache is not hidden at the posted coordinates and is not hidden inside the cemeteries. Play the adventure lab to obtain the coordinates of a final resting place of the bonus cache. The final is within a reasonable distance.

CAUTION - TERRAIN 2: the grounds at the Sunnyside cemetery are uneven, there is a lot of loose dirt and no grass. There are gopher holes everywhere and sometimes your feet sink. Plan accordingly and wearing something else than your white tennis or dress shoes. This is not an issue at the Municipal cemetery which has lush green grass, the gophers are chased away on a regular basis and everything is well kept.

CAUTION - SUNNYSIDE GATE CLOSURES: The Sunnyside cemetery usually is open 9-5 and this is where you park for the adventure. From here you walk via the public sidewalk to the Municipal cemetery which is open dawn - dusk. There is no direct access between the two cemeteries. Please note that the gardeners will close the Sunnyside gate at 5-ish. If you arrive after 3:45pm you may want to talk to them and ask when they close.

CAUTION - INTERESTING DEAD PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. The cemeteries are open year around except on Halloween. At that time, the Historical Society Long Beach (HSLB) has a special event and celebrates the lives of some past residents here through a Cemetery Tour. If you are interested in very colorful stories from The Coseboom Family, Yaye Takeshita, Ethel & Charles Haynes, to name a few, you can do an internet search. Oh, while you are visiting the cemeteries you will find you are never alone, there is always company, and there will be one person holding your hand...

THE SILENT CITY

You are visiting the first and therefore oldest cemetery in Long Beach, Long Beach Municipal Cemetery. Nextdoor is Sunnyside cemetery. You  will see quite a contrast between the two cemeteries. Long Beach Municipal is owned and managed by the city. The grass is green and well kept. Sunnyside has become a dirt field which, after rains, turns in to a field with tall weeds that are impossible to mow. A previous owner ran off with half of the endowment care funds while the city has no interest in taking over this cemetery. If you are interested in learning more about this local history, google Long Beach Sunnyside Cemetery. That's what I did, I learned many fun but also grueful things and it all resulted in this great adventure.

THE BONUS CACHE

Play the adventure lab and after completing it most journals give information on where to find the bonus cache including any hints.  The bonus cache is not on the cemetery (due to too many subterranean muggles).

I happened to notice that when you visit the cemeteries and are respectful to the subterranean muggles and acknowledge their headstones, that their ghosts may follow you to the Bonus Cache to give you the help you need and you should be able to sign the log quickly. However if you rush your way through the adventure lab, and rush to get a smilie for the Bonus Cache, those ghosts may still join but may play some tricks on you and test your patience.

LOGGING A FIND
