1 of 16 in this trail
I have been walking the wall for many years and have watched the water levels rise and fall but the view is always beautiful. Personally I like to do my walk in the early moring and watch the sun come up.
The total length of the wall is 8.67ks. My trail is only 3ks.
The dam wall as we know it now was built in the late 60's and opened in 1971. Upgrades where 2001 -2007. which is when the current flood gates where fitted. The dam was never ment to be the towns main water supply. The Burdikin pipe line was laid in 1988.
The dam reached 250% capacity in February 2019 as a result of mass rainfall and the opening of the floodgates resulted in major flooding in the lower regions down stream.
Each of the 16 caches are a different type so I strongly suggest you carry yout TOTT.
There is NO NEED to climb down the rock embankment as all caches are with in 3mts of the trail markers.
I DO NOT reccomend doing this at night without a strong light sorce as the wildlife and rockes are dangerous.
Unless you have a pushbike you will need to walk the wall to catch the smiles. It can be broken up by using the back stairs at

Be mindful of the wildlife and enjoy the view.
Please be aware if you do not sign the cache log your smile log will be deleated.
