An innovative development like Lanting Shenghui (兰亭盛荟) which mixes a 400m platform built over a huge road which incorporates a public access plaza and sports fields, a linear shopping mall, and 16 highrise residential towers, needs to get several things right to succeed. One of them is the landscaping, and the development generally succeeds on this point. One area where at least up to now the plaza design falls short is the shortage of shade in some parts of it, so that people tend to avoid it during the daytime during May to October.
Still, the landscaping overall is very good, with places to sit down, a combination of secluded and open spaces, multiple pathway options and connections, and an interesting display area with photos and a scale model of the development.
