The posted coordinates are for the trailhead where your adventure will begin. After this, there are 5 preliminary stages (where you will gather information) and a final stage (whose location is not yet known to you). This hike is roughly one mile roundtrip and will include some paved trails, some light off-trail bushwhacking, and some slopes.
You don't need to know anything about the OLYMPIAD2020 series to do this cache.
The stages are only available from dawn to dusk. Please no night caching.
Once Upon a Time...
As you scan your morning inbox, one email catches your eye: WANT TO PLAY BASKETBALL?
It looks like an invitation to join a local rec team.
You played quite a bit when you were a kid and some intramural while in college. These days, you shoot hoops in your driveway maybe once or twice a month. You've been thinking about getting back into it, so it's funny that you should get this email.
But this is a really odd invite. To sign up, you have to visit a bunch of coordinates in the woods, collect clues, and follow some instructions. This seems strangely familiar to you.
After work, with a printout of the email in hand, you set off into the woods of suburbia...

Clue A has been dunked into a beech tree.

N 38° 45.297' W 077° 13.272'
Taking care to not get your new kicks wet, the number of net loops underneath is the odd number B.
3 - Coach
N 38° 45.267' W 077° 13.398'
Continue on the paved trail... Coach has left some instructions in a 7-inch container in the crotch of a large, fallen Y.
