Geocache Description:

A bad day of geocaching is better than a good day of chores!  That’s because there’s no such thing as a bad day of geocaching, and frankly, well...we’re not sure that there’s ever been a good day of chores.

We put out this series of caches in the lovely Whaupaunaucau State Forest. Besides geocaching, it hosts a pond, stream, wildlife and myriad activities to keep you fit and sane.  Isn’t that better than raking the leaves, cleaning the attic, painting the shutters, or scrubbing the shower?

But we know that there may be others in your life-and some of them may share your household-who, strangely, may not agree. We of Team El Fartero have faced such oddities ourselves, and so are here to help you.

We’ve made these caches “EDUCATIONAL!”  Now your Mom can’t complain about your messy room, your spouse can’t nag about undone yardwork, your kids can’t holler that you didn’t get their lunches ready… just because you go out geocaching every weekend.  You’re doing something EDUCATIONAL-- looking for a bald eagle, surveying the state of the Eastern White Pine, studying the hibernation practices of the common garter snake, tracking the migration patterns of the Monarch butterfly, Canadian Geese and American Robin, observing the building techniques of the American Beaver, all while taking a brisk healthy hike, while socially distancing.  We know that you were really geocaching, but who has to know. We won’t tell.

So look out for plants and wildlife as you search for these caches, and note your scientific observations on the Worksheet we’ve attached. Then show it to your parents, spouse and kids when you get home. A more educational day can scarcely be imagined. So what if the faucet still leaks. Think about how much smarter you’ve become!
