RATHDRUM MOUNTAIN
Welcome to Rathdrum Mountain! This area consists of 540 acres of city-owned property. It’s been nearly 20 years in the making and now the city of Rathdrum is one step closer to having public access to the mountain that towers above the town.
The city has been working for 20 years to develop this property into a park. The plans call for two acres to be turned into parking, picnic areas and shelters. There is also a 9-hole disc golf course. The area is gated at night and a park host is there to make sure things stay clean and safe, and to answer your questions. There are also future plans for an upper ridge site to be created.
THERE ARE MANY TRAILS ON THE STORMKING TRAIL SYSTEM ON RATHDRUM MOUNTAIN:
Story Walk Trail starts at the Sasquatch at the north end of the parking lot. It's a short stroll along both sides of a very melodic and peaceful creek, and has signs to read along the way.
The Watershed Loop Trail starts at the Disc Golf Course entrance. After you pass through the bottom of the disc golf course you will shortly come to a brand new bridge over the creek and enjoy a peaceful walk or hike along the creek lined with beautiful cedar and fir trees. At the top of the loop you will come to another bridge and the loop will bring you back to the trail head. The Watershed Loop Trail is approximately .75 miles and is a great trail for hikers or bikers of all skill levels.
Rathdrum Mountain Trail is a 6-mile out and back trail that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. This trail is just one segment of a new and much larger network of trails around Rathdrum Mountain.
