Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Peewee Trails System!  This is a very large trail system, with numerous trails and numerous access points to them.  I have only scratched the surface on this awesome hiking area.  It is accessible to hikers, horses and motorcycles. Not all trails are accessible to all, though. Each trail is different.  So far there are 9 caches here, and they are all on half of the available trails.  I had only hiked from the main trailhead, and wasn't aware that there were other trailheads. Recently, I have found 3 other trailheads besides the main one. I set out to find the OTHER trailheads, and have succeeded in finding all 3! I have coordinates and descriptions of the 4 trailheads listed on this page.

This cache is accessed from one of the Steep Creek trailheads, the one off Lower Quartz Creek Road, FS road #416. I have not hiked this area of Peewee before, and today as I placed this cache I found this trail to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL.  I can't wait to explore this area! After I hike it, I will update this cache page.  Please bring lots of water when hiking these trails, as there is none available, the 10 essentials AND bear spray.  This trailhead has NO facilities at all. It is just a trailhead with a small sign.

BE AWARE, THIS IS BEAR COUNTRY.  It may be a good idea to carry bear spray. There are also other wild animals around.

Here is more info on this hiking system:

PEEWEE TRAIL #178

The main trailhead (PeeWee) has lots of parking, 3 picnic tables and a vault toilet.  It has a horse watering trough and hitching posts. There is NO potable water here for hikers. Turn off Hwy 57 onto Peninsula Rd, then a left at the Peewee Trailhead sign onto FS Road #416. If you get to the Green Owl or McAbee Falls bridge, you've gone too far. Once on this road, follow the GPS, because the last sign has disappeared. The last turn is no-brainer, though. Just take a left into the parking lot, after you pass the gravel pit.

JOHN WAYNE TRAIL #176

This is a loop trail, and also has a trailhead access off of Peterson Rd.

STEEP CREEK TRAIL #177

This is a trail with 2 trailhead accesses, along with access to the main trail systems. Trailheads are on Lower Quartz Creek Road/FS road #416 and Quartz Mountain Road #1314.

QUARTZ VIEW TRAIL #179

This trail is accessed from the other trails. There are several connecting trails.

"CONNECTOR TRAILS"

Just to make things even more confusing, there are "connector trails", LOL.  See the background photo, and you'll see what I mean. As I've said, I'll update info as I hike this area and figure all the trails out.
