Geocache Description:

This cache is in memory to Moshe Nahmias (1945 - 2020)

Moshe Nahmias was born in Israel on September 28, 1945 to Greek Jewish immigrants. He was raised in Tel Aviv in the Florentin neighborhood and moved to Ramat Gan in 1959. From 1964-1966 he served in the IDF airforce. In 1965 his parents opened Triana, a famous greek restaurant, where many politicians, journalists, businessmen, and artists dined. Moshe managed the restaurant alongside his parents for 37 years. Meanwhile, in 1966 he studied history and economics at Tel Aviv University, and graduated in 1970. In 1970 he met Hana Yaloz, the love of his life, who he married in 1971 and had 3 children, Avi, Shlomi, and Bonny. He continued managing the restaurant after his father’s passing. A few years after his mother’s passing in 2002, he decided to shut it down.

In 2009 Moshe discovered the geocaching through his son Avi. He immediately fell in love and started looking for caches all over Israel and around the world. He described the experience as an adventure that leads to new places: “People ask me, ‘you found something and what did you win?’ There is nothing to win.You need to feel the sentiment. To get to a place that was next to you but you didn't know existed. To smell the fields in our small country.” Moshe hid over 540 geocaches all over Israel, telling history and his personal life story. Through his journeys he found over 2400 geocaches. He died on the first rainy day on November 4th 2020. His life morals will remain an inspiration to all of us.

The cache is a gum bottle hiddle just off a walking trail.
