This cache has been archived.

kvenator: Time for this one to go given the park is going to be closed for an extended period. It'll be a clean slate for when it opens afterwards for some new hides.

Thanks for playing my game.

per a statement by the city of olathe: "Beginning May 19, Cedar Lake Park will be closed to the public for sewer construction and dam restoration, until the project is complete in 2026. Cedar Creek Trail from Lake Olathe to Cedar Lake will also be closed during this period to accommodate construction."

Geocache Description:

Area Fifteen

Area 15... it's kind of like Area 51.  Maybe more like Area 51 junior.   1/5...  5/1...  probably only makes a difference in alien stories and D/T's.  It's possible this cache is a tad bit overrated...  but maybe not.  Alien stuff gets weird.

---

The alien ship started as a blip on Strategic Air Command radar systems.  It moved quickly and stationed itself above the Kansas City metro area before anyone knew what was going on.

It was flashing and beeping some sort of message; but nobody could figure out how to communicate with it.

Your quest is to crack the secrets of Area Fifteen to find the information needed to locate the cache.

There are two ways to play the game:

Android device owners can get the app from the play store:

or you can:

play online at this website

(best experienced with the Chrome browser.  Edge seemed to work ok too.  Other browsers I tried didn't work that well.)

Enter your discoveries in the checker to get info needed to find the cache...

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

IMPORTANT:  1/17/2023 update:  due to conditions at gz changing, a replacement cache has been put out and is now ~45ft east of the original location.

Known Issues:

* you will soon learn that this is a simple memory game that's easy to start but hard to get very far.  One issue that I know of is related to timing of the button pushes during the computer's turn in late rounds.  (The delays I've set get a little out of synch over time such that if there are two or more of the same star played, it can be a little hard to discern the computer's button click...  you'll need to pay closer attention until I can determine how to fix it).  It won't impact most players as it doesn't really manifest itself until double digit levels.

* it's best to maximize your Chrome browser window when playing via web.  some screen elements can be off screen to the bottom.

* while not required, the mobile app experience should be the optimal choice if you have an Android device.  Please leave a positive review in the play store if you have fun with this.  If you don't, thanks for trying it.  Please send me a note letting me know about any issues you may have found.

I wanted to learn Flutter programming and creating this game/puzzle geocache was my initial learning project.  Thanks in advance for your generous latitude with any possible issues that I may not have found during my testing.
