Geocache Description:


The published co-ordinates are not for the location of this cache. In order to find this cache you will need to complete our BCP Reindeer Romp Adventure Lab which we hope will be fun for children as well as adults, though younger children are likely to need help with the little puzzles.

It has a Christmas theme but, of course, can be done at any time!!

NOTE: The Buchan Country Park Car Park access is, at time of publication, closed and locked at 18:00 (seasonal hours apply - check website)

Completing the adventure lab and this bonus cache will take you on a walk of around 3km, if you do nothing else on your outing. Our recommendation would be to start the Lab at the Douster Pond  location and end with the Spruce Hill Coppice location.

When you have successfully completed the Reindeer Romp Adventure Lab, you will have information that you need to use to figure out where this Bonus cache is actually hidden.

At each of the 5 locations you visit as part of the Adventure Lab,  you will be asked to solve a simple cheeky puzzle then answer a question. When each question is answered correctly, you will be given a piece of information you need to make a note of.

When you have completed the Lab, the data collected should be easily recognised as 5 members of the original 8 reindeer, so not including Rudolph, the creation of an American,  Robert L. May who, in 1939, wrote a short story about a sweet, homely reindeer shunned because of his glowing red nose. Little did he know his creation was destined to become a Christmas holiday classic selling millions of copies. He wrote a few more short stories about Rudolph but the song "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer", written by Johnny Marks, May's brother-in-law, was a No.1 hit for Gene Autry at Christmas 1949.  Autry's version of the song also holds the distinction of being the only chart-topping hit to fall completely off the chart after reaching No. 1. The official date of its No. 1 status was for the week ending January 7, 1950, making it the first No. 1 song of the 1950s.

Now work out what the remaining 3 are and list them in alphabetical order of their first letter, giving you Word1, Word2 and Word3.

To identify the coordinates of the final location of this cache:

Using the number sequence of the letters of the alphabet (e.g. a=1, b=2, c=3 and so on), substitute the number of each letter for that letter in each of the words you have listed.  For example, Bob would be: 2,15,2. Dan would be 4,1,14.
