Glenzilla the giant snapping turtle of Glenwood Lake was menaced by a haunted Japanese knotweed forest, which threatened to cast a spell of toxic algae blooms upon his beautiful lake. In order to protect the sunken treasures children have given him over the years, he has gathered them up and hidden them by the secret springs of the lake. (Rumor has it that if you drink of the springs you will live forever, but also turn into a turtle, such is the fate of Glenzilla.) Help reverse the curse by finding the treasure and spreading joy throughout the land.
You may enter Glenwood Lake park from Glencar Avenue, Bergholz Drive, or Lakeside Drive. Read signs carefully as surrounding streets have parking restrictions, but there is street parking available. If you are new to the hidden treasure of New Rochelle that is Glenwood Lake, be sure to take in its beauty by walking the short (<1 mile) loop around the lake. The cache is accessible by way of a path, so no need to go bushwhacking. There are poison ivy and thorny vines in the area, so proceed carefully.
The local waterfowl say he's a funky duck!
