Geocache Description:

This cache is a night cache and is the 9th cache in a series known as the Gadget Cache Row series.  There is room for some TBs but not much room for swag in the cache.

While the cache itself is not at the posted coordinates, your journey will begin there.

After toying with the different possible names for this cache, I finally settled on this one.  There is a story behind the name: When I was hiding the cache, I was trying to put nails through the cache so that I could put it on the tree.  After one successful attempt, I failed miserably twice.  I went back the next day to nail it to the tree with a second nail.  Unfortunately, the two bent nails (miserable failures) are still in the cache.  The story was further complicated when I realized that birdhouse caches are supposed to be hung from trees and not attached.  The nails now serve as part of the cache's story.  I hope that you have better luck than I did!

This is a night cache, and I hope you enjoy the combination of a night cache with a puzzling container.  Happy caching!!!

Some general tips about finding the cache:  Park in the round mountain parking lot.  There is a trail that heads west from the parking lot.  Take that trail, then turn left at the top of the first hill and take the summit trail until you hit the turnoff.  Be sure to wear boots and pants.  This cache has some rougher terrain (especially in the dark) and a few downed logs (hense the high rating).  Bring a light that will illuminate your path well (perhaps a headlamp? That will help at GZ); also be sure to bring a good flashlight that can shine for a decently long way in order to illuminate your path.  With a strong light, the cache can probably be found during the twilight hours before full darkness.  Two tacks mark the starting location and the final location; one tack is at each "waypoint" both to and from the cache.  Please do not touch or tamper with the tacks.  Please be gentle with the cache and only do what is necessary to solve the puzzle and sign the log.  For best results, try holding your light near eye level when spotting the next "waypoint".  Know how to operate a masterlock combo lock: spin clockwise to the first number, counter clockwise past the second number and continue turning until you arrive at the second number again, then clockwise to the last number.  Please replace the cache exactly as you found it.  Be sure that, when you are looking for your next marker (and you are directly at one of them), always move to your right around the tree (on the way up).  Consider doing this with another person for safety and fun.

I really hope you enjoy this cache!  Please be careful.  Go find it!!!

Congratulations to Denali41 on FTF!
