A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was an 11 cache series in this area called "Illinois Jones and The Riches of Reugen's Lair". A series with a lot of different parts needed to find the finale. The series attracted a lot of the veteran, old skool geocachers. It was our most popular series. Then, unfortunately, life happened, valuable clues for the series final caches went missing, and we were unable to maintain the series in the way we would have liked to.
That was nearly 13 years ago. The whole series got archived and we moved on to bigger and better things. All this time passed by and one key thing that neither of us realized finally came to mind: We never thought to retrieve the ammo can for the final cache in the Illinois Jones series. So, after some digging around in our archived caches, we found the hidden waypoint containing the coordinates for the final cache. I thought, what the heck, I'll go out and see if its there. This cache had been abandoned for almost 13 years and I found it not only intact, but in tip top shape, with all the original contents and logbook dry as a bone, seemingly untouched by the passage of time. These 50 cal ammo cans really were built to last! Further evidence that the cache hasn't moved in 13 years was that it was half surrounded by dirt and roots growing in and around the hiding spot. It took forever to pry it loose.
Consider this a memorial cache for a great series that we sadly could not keep going. You are looking for that same 50 cal ammo can that has survived alone in the woods all these years containing all the original contents of the final cache of the original series. I suppose after 13 years untouched, you won't have to worry about anybody other than other geocachers coming out to this spot. For the new cachers out there, enjoy the 'new' cache. For all you veteran, old skool geocachers that may have found this series back in the day, consider this a memorial.
