Geocache Description:

This cache will take you to the historic Johnson Park Race Track. This race track was developed between 1940 and 1941 by Edmund Hayes. In 1940 the New Brunswick Horse show was moved here and in September of 1941, the barns, only one of which remains, and the race track were opened. The main type of racing held here was harness racing. This continued through the 70’s and 80’s, when the number of races started to decline. The last race held here was the Sire Stakes, which was in 1986. The horse show was renamed the Middlesex County Horse Show in the 1950's and around 1992 and 1993 the horse show was moved to the state horse park near Allentown.

There is plenty of parking nearby. Take the time to see the remaining barn and racetrack. This is a log only cache. BYOP.  Stealth will be required. Thank you to Anthony Timek for providing the information on the race track.

Congratulations to chrmdome for FTF!
